Meet your guide
Andrew Rhodes has spent his career doing one thing: bringing stories to life for audiences of all ages. As the founder of Makeshift Theatre Co. in Cambridge — a company nominated for a Nickelodeon Parents Choice Award for Best Children's Theatre in Boston — he spent years directing productions across the Greater Boston area, from community stages to college theaters.
His path into touring was a natural one. Andrew spent nearly a decade leading brewery tours across Boston and Vermont, training guides, developing new tour products, and managing city-wide operations for Boston Brew Tours. Before that, he managed the Ghosts & Gravestones tour for Historic Tours of America, overseeing a team of 16 and running specialty tours across the city.
Makeshift Tours is the combination of everything he's built: a theater director's instinct for storytelling, a tour operator's knowledge of Boston, and a genuine belief that the best experiences are the ones made just for you.

Makeshift Tours grew out of twenty years of working in Boston — directing theater, running tours, teaching, and getting to know this city from every angle.
After years leading brewery tours and managing ghost tours for thousands of visitors, it became clear that what people really wanted wasn't a script — it was a real conversation with someone who actually knows the city.
Every tour is private, meaning it's just your group. No strangers, no compromises. We build the experience around what you actually want to see and do.
